Charles Joseph Minard is considered one of the most important figures in the data visualization world. The French engineer had made a significant contribution to the area of thematic maps, representing numerical data on geographic maps in the mid-19th century. His flow maps are considered revolutionary. This type of maps visualize something as intangible as movements, showing those on geographic maps. Flow maps represent different aspects of this movement.
The assignment from the university required creating a 500-word summary for the provided flow diagram, and incorporating it, along with the visual, into a succinctly designed editorial piece.
